Includes pitcher, 4 glasses and 6 side plates. See measurements below. The Wilhelm Kralik Sohn Glass company of Czechoslovakia had a very rich history, originally founded in 1815 by Josef Meyr. Over the many years the company produced wonderful works of art, contributing to the history and art glass trade throughout the 19th century. The firm created a number of interesting styles and shapes many of which are collected today. Due to the start of World War I, many studios in this region suffered financially, at the end of the war, this region known as Bohemia region became part Czechoslovakia. During the 1920’s-early 30’s, the Kralik company continued to produce fine glass for export, one style used uranium glass as a base with colored threading and canes as accents. I have seen as well as owned a small number of examples in this style of this beautiful water pitcher. Marked with the acid etch name “Czechoslovakia“ I believe this example dates from the 1920s into the early 1930s. It exhibits an art deco form as well as colored pattern of the red and yellow threads. These colored threads evidently were applied after the pitcher was initially made and reheated so that the applied glass would fuse to the pitcher. The yellow/red cane shapes were actually incorporated into the initial glass, evidently a very complicated process. This pitcher measures 11 1/2” tall and 7 3/4” from spout to back of handle. Cup measurements: 5 1/2" tall and 3 1/8" wide at mouth. The plates measure: 7 1/2" wide and approximately 1/2" tall. After thorough examination, I can find no chips, cracks, damage or repairs. I see no heat checks in the handle or at points of attachment. The inside is clean showing no residue or staining from use. I will mention for accuracy and as pictured several pin head/pinpoint ash flecks are visible near the top rim, very common with this type of glass from this era. A great display piece for any collector. Thank you for looking and we hope you find interest in this RARE find!We ship same or next day and will be packed with care.
